Portugal Euro Tour Met Patrick Rebstock

Just in time for the holidays the LivingTheDream crew bring you some action from across the pond.

Portugal marks the first stop for the LivingTheDream Euro Tour and Quiksilver surfer Patrick Rebstock.
When it comes to roadtrips this one takes the cake with over 10,000 kilometers driven, 13 countries visited, a few injuries, and endless good times.
The search for waves begins in Portugal after a stunning drive from Austria. Starting in the Alps in a air cooled Porche Turbo with our friends Hannes and Martin we raced along the gorgeous mountains ending where land meets the Atlantic in a beach truck generously provided by Bagjump.com. With James Ropner and Alli Pareti as companions Patrick Rebstock explores the beautiful coastline of Portugal.
Life on the road proves to be full of adventure for these three as they cross the European landscape.
The LTD Crew was lucky to meet up with Ricardo Mia, a local Portuguese surfer that showed them the best conditions and spots on the west coast. It was people like Ricardo and the rest of the awesome friends we made that made this trip so special. Thanks Ricardo we wouldn't have caught half as many waves or had nearly as much fun if it wasn't for you.
The Portugal stop is just the first of many and the LivingTheDream Crew will defiantly be back across the pond for some more action in the future.
Thanks for watching happy holidays and stay tuned for Scotland the next LivingTheDream Tour stop. (a wee bit colder)

Save Ponta Preta

The uniqe world class spot of Ponta Preta is facing threat of destruction by hotels who want to build breakwater for their guest to swim. We need to act fast, and get as much support against this absurd plan.
Ponta preta - Cabo VerdeTo sign the petition follow the link:www.thepetitionsite.comThe goal is to reach 2000 signatures as fast as we can and then more. The Resort Group plans to build a breakwater on Algodoeiro (the west coast of Sal, Cabo Verde), the purpose of which is to improve swimming for tourists at their three hotels. Algodoeiro has a layer of rocks that are uncovered at low tide meaning that once or twice a day, to be able to swim there tourists must walk across the rocks.

The impacts include:
1. An impact on the wave action that may disrupt surfing, windsurfing & kitesurfing in the world famous beach of Ponta Preta.
2. The impact on endangered and protected loggerhead turtles Caretta caretta including disruption of the beach during the nesting season (noise, lights & obstructions) and the walls preventing them exiting the sea to lay their nests.
3. This zone is part of Cape Verde’s network of Protected Areas (PCSAPCV) and this kind of project is not permitted under the management plan.

Right after the KSP Mauritius we took the chance to really enjoy Mauritius and managed to get some sick shots of barrels, huge walls and also massive wipeouts. Watch the best athletes in their game, Airton Cozzolino, Patri McLaughlin, Kirsty Jones and Ninja Bichler playing with the elements to the extreme. Additionally get a closer look on the beautiful island Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, probably one of the most versatile kite spots on this globe: flat water lagoons, wave entry spots and of course impressing One Eye. And all that within spitting distance! Enjoy the ride with your host Tom Court and just so much, it´s worth watching it until the last second!

The New Flyboards Flydoor4

We cannot hide how happy we are with our Flydoors. Whomever has ridden the Flydoor3 will testify on how good it combined light-wind kiting with a great riding experience. Now we present the newest evolution in the line: The Flydoor4.

Everyone has experienced it. You get to the spot and the wind-forecast has been a few knots too optimistic. With a Flydoor in your quiver this means having fun, instead of hanging around on the beach. The unbelievably early planing ability combined with the unexpectedly good handling is what makes the Flydoor4 stand out above the rest. Riding toe-side, jumping, cruising. The Flydoor4 just feels much smaller than it is, however still delivers unmatched upwind performance. Thanks to the centre fin there is no other twintip board, except the Flyrace, that goes upwind better.

KSP Ho'okipa Final..

The final day of the Ho’okipa Kite Surf Pro delivered classic Ho’okipa conditions and saw major upsets in the world title race. Event winners and overall KSP World Champions were crowned on Maui’s north shore today.
2012 ksp world champions crowned on maui’s north shore
The final day of the Ho’okipa Kite Surf Pro got underway in building surf and returning trade winds. The first major upset of the day came early this morning in the final heat of men’s round 2 between points leader Patri McLaughlin (HI, North) and world number 4 Luke McGillewie (RSA, RRD). McGillewie crushed McLaughlin’s world title hopes with a narrow defeat in their early morning clash at Ho’okipa.
The upsets continued in the men’s elimination when world number 2 Airton Cozzolino (ITA, North), world number 3 Sebastian Ribeiro (BRA) and world number 4 Luke McGillewie (RSA, RRD) all failed to advance to the semi-finals, effectively opening up the title race to riders Guilly Brandao (BRA), Keahi De Aboititz (AUS, Cabrinha) and Mitu Monteiro (CPV, F-One), all tied for 5th place in the world ranking.
In the men’s semi-finals, Monteiro advanced in a high-scoring affair over Brandao and De Aboitiz defeated Ferreira, setting the stage for a riveting final showdown. With the Ho’okpa Kite Surf Pro event title and the world championship crown on the line, Monteiro and De Aboitiz had the crowd on the edge of their seats, exchanging the lead several times throughout the final in exceptional conditions. De Aboitiz emerged victorious, taking home his first ever KSP World Championship title in an emotional victory.

In the women’s bracket, round 2 saw fierce matchups in world-class conditions. Milla Ferreira (BRA, F-One), Moona Whyte (HI, Cabrinha), Kari Schibevaag (NOR, Ozone) and Jalou Langerees (NED, Naish) all advanced through to the semi-final round with stellar performances in the building northwest swell and increasing winds.
The womens’ semi-final saw Whyte post the highest two wave total of the entire event, a 17.67, against Brazillian powerhouse Ferreira. Ferreira’s defeat effectively secured the title for Langeree, putting her competitors out of points’ reach. Elated after winning her first ever KSP World Championship title, Langeree went on to advance in semi-final number 2 in a narrow victory over Schibevaag.
The women’s final hit the water in pulsing northwest swell and finely groomed over-head waves. Whyte, in her first ever KSP World Championship tour event, continued her charge to victory, posting big scores, displaying fluid style, and defeating points leader Langeree.
