WeatherFlow Says:
We’re proud to announce the WeatherFlow Wind Meter - it’s an anemometer that fits in your pocket. It’s the first hardware product we have created for the general wind and weather community. It’s compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod, and all major Android (coming soon) devices. And you are going to love it. Download one of our free apps for iOS or Android (coming soon) and plug in your wind meter – it’s really that easy.
Hold it up high facing into the wind. Your phone does the rest by recording the wind speed (average, lull, and gust), wind direction, and location. Easily share onsite reports with WeatherFlow, Instagram, Vine, Twitter, SMS, Email, or Facebook. And view all of this crowd sourced weather in one of our consumer applications.
TKB Says:
The WeatherFlow Wind Meter is small and easy to use. Once you have downloaded the WeatherFlow Wind Meter App (Get the iOS version here, Android coming soon) you simply plug the Wind Meter into your device’s headphone jack and you’re ready to take a wind reading. This unit comes in nice plastic case that will keep it clean and safe for years of use.
We found the WeatherFlow Wind Meter to be just as accurate as any of the traditional anemometers we’ve used, but this device has a few really cool features. Besides telling you how windy it is, you can also easily share the wind speed and direction and the location of your reading via your favorite social network. This is a great feature that could be very useful for riders in areas lacking reliable wind reports.
Pros:
- Very reasonably priced, accurate, and easy to use.
- Excellent price and customer support. It is less than half the price of other handheld anemometer devices.
- Many settings for wind readings and personal preferences. Easily share your readings instantly with friends and others.
Cons:
- You might look like a techno geek using this. But really, if you have a smart phone you already are.
Tips:
- We found on the iPhone that it is best to turn off your screen auto brightness to see it better in bright sunlight.
